High School Scholarships

To receive a high school scholarship, an orphan who has successfully passed the National Primary Exam must be nominated by our partner. Once an orphan becomes a STAR (Student Transforming Africa and Renewing Its Society”) s/he is guaranteed a full-potential scholarships through high school  provided s/he maintain a achieve and maintain a ‘C’ or higher grade average each year, act with integrity, demonstrate personal responsibility and accept mentorship.

A STARS scholarship includes the following:

  • Annual tuition and fees
  • School uniform
  • Books and educational supplies
  • Exam fees
  • Personal care allowance
  • Educational trips led by the schools the STARS attend
  • Other school administrative fees

As of 2019, there are 19 STARS in high school (see below)

71 STARS have graduated from high school. Meldrine and Julius (pictured) below are the most recent graduates (see photos below). They graduated in 2018 and are now pursuing higher education.  Learn more about our impact here.

In addition to Meldrine and Julius, at least 15 other STARS have gone on to higher education. All graduates are working, many have married and some have their own children.
