STARS Children Africa provides scholarships for orphans identified by our Kenyan partner, Miwani Community Based Organization.
Located in Miwani, Kenya near Lake Victoria, The Miwani Community Based Organization (MCBO) is a civic organization that finds and coordinates resources to improve the lives of widows and orphans and serve the broader community during emergencies such as drought or an outbreak of disease.
MCBO works through St. Luke’s Ministry to identify orphans for high school scholarship and provide them on the ground mentorship while they study. St. Luke’s Ministry has served widows and orphans in the community for 20 years. Since 2006, STARS Children Africa has had a working relationship with Pastor Joshua (pictured above) who leads St. Luke’s Ministry.
STARS Children Africa raises money and pays for tuition, fees, and other school costs, including room and board. MCBO administers these funds, mentors the STARS (Students Transforming Africa Renewing its Society) and also acts as the STARS’ guardian for health and other school-related matters.
