We have spent this week (half of our trip) teaching and learning from the STARS Volunteers. These 12 young men and women are barely in their 20s but are impacting many and using the high school education they received to empower others. One fills the important role of primary school headmaster. Others volunteer as secondary school teachers, which include prepping their students for the very important 4th year national exams and proctoring them. All are interested in American society and politics, President Obama in particular since his Kenyan ancestors are from the Luo tribe in their area. We are proud to have supported these amazing young people and can’t wait to hear how they are going to transform their communities next.
